Causal textures

One of the early articles I read that showed me there were interesting and useful ways to think about organizations was Emery and Trist's "The causal texture of organizational environments." I find it a great reminder that organizations are different and that the approaches that work well for one might be quite ill-suited for another.

Now the Ackoff Center has permission to republish their article. Does your organization fit into one of those four types? Do Emery and Trist's ideas help you see your organization more clearly?
