Patents

I've reluctantly become increasingly skeptical about what the current patent system brings us, even as I've been awarded three patents over the years, and I've written about that here.

There has been a string of other voices expressing similar worries, and that's cause for hope.  Mark Shuttleworth claims Microsoft will end up expressing their concerns.  The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has weighed in.  The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has changed its stance.

Now Ed Burnette has written "Why software patents are a joke, literally."  Thanks to Matt Shotwell for that last tip.

The best powerpoint ever happens to talk about "free culture" which is oriented a little more towards copyright and less towards patents, but it has some mentions of patents.
